None so blind…

As torrential rains wash away the stench of a London heat wave, another kind of wave is sweeping through the city streets. A rash of ghost sightings, followed quickly by madness—and horrifying, eye-melting blindness.

The outbreak hits close to home when Lord Crane’s manservant, Merrick, becomes the newest victim. Desperate to find the cause of the malady, Crane and his magician lover, Stephen Day, are in a race against time—to put an end to the magical assault and put to rest the painful memories resurrected by ghosts of the past.

Warning: Magical horror, strong language, and strange brews disguised as strong drink.

“He could not have borne this without Stephen, without the knowledge, under his own helpless fury, that his quite, determined, implacable lover was there fighting for him once again.”

32 bloody pages. What can you say in 32 pages that is so darn amazing? That you might have readers eagerly anticipating for the latest installment?

Well, I don’t know how KJ Charles does it, but she executes it with a damn punch, and a lasting impression.

“In any case, my life has brought me here, with you, and I wouldn’t want to be elsewhere.”

The Charm of Magpies series is one that I await, not quite patiently, but one that as soon as an installment is out, I’m scouring and securing a copy. A Case of Spirits does not disappoint. If it holds some type of despairing emotions, is the “When is the next bloody book coming out!”

I don’t want to give too much away, if at all, because of the concise nature of the book/novella. All I can say is Lord Crane and Stephan Day are intriguing as ever, and they get even more fascinating as the story progresses. The suspense and the romance is at an all time high, and if KJ Charles continues then I suspect it’ll get even higher.

Now… wait.

“Stephen felt branded by it, he knew, marked as his, and Crane took pleasure in the thought that slightly disturbed him. My lover. My shaman. My bloody-minded, obstinate, slippery Stephen.”

When is the next book coming out?
